Description

This practice addresses challenges with the timeliness of qualifications assessment agencies.

The College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO) requires that graduates of physiotherapy programs in other countries have their credentials assessed by the Canadian Alliance for Physiotherapy Regulators.

The CPO monitored and influenced the alliance to reduce its timelines, by:

  • sitting on its board of directors and executive committee

  • taking part in the alliance's review of the credentialing process in 2012 and recommending changes

The alliance:

  • introduced changes in 2013 to reduce timelines for applicants

  • has reduced its wait times by 60 per cent

  • adheres to its publishing timelines

  • posts weekly timeline updates to ensure applicants are aware of current information
