Fairness Commissioner Irwin Glasberg

Irwin Glasberg was appointed as Ontario's Fairness Commissioner on January 10, 2020. He has been a lawyer and public servant since his call to the bar in 1980.

Irwin began his career with the Ontario Ministry of Labour and the Ontario Workers' Compensation Board, where he worked in policy, legal and management positions and as Chief of Staff for the Chairman. Later, he joined the Information and Privacy Commissioner and was appointed as the Assistant Information Commissioner, the most senior adjudicative position in the organization.

Irwin has worked at Cabinet Office on two separate occasions, first as the director responsible for the intergovernmental and justice sector and later as the Assistant Deputy Minister for the Roots of Youth Violence Review.

While at the Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG), Irwin has served as the Assistant Deputy Attorney General (ADAG) for the Victims and Vulnerable Persons Division, the Policy and Adjudicative Tribunals Division and the Innovation Office. He also spent one year as the Acting ADAG for the Civil Law Division. Irwin was appointed as Interim Deputy Attorney General on two separate occasions in 2017 and 2020.

Irwin is also the MAG representative on the Board of the Law Commission of Ontario.
