Offering alternative pathways for meeting registration requirements

Classification: Non-Health

Regulatory Body

Ontario Association of ARCHITECTS

Ontario Association of ARCHITECTS

Description

This practice provides alternative registration pathways for internationally educated individuals.

The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) requires applicants to complete education, experience and examination requirements, and an admission course.

To meet the requirements, qualified internationally educated architects may choose between the OAA's Internship in Architecture Program and a series of assessments conducted by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board under its Broadly Experienced Foreign Architects program (BEFA). Applicants who successfully complete the BEFA program are exempt from most of the OAA's registration requirements.

The programs have different costs, expectations and timelines. Providing this flexibility enables applicants to choose a registration pathway that meets their specific circumstances.
