Providing pre-registration guidance to applicants

Classification: Health

Regulatory Body

This practice gives internationally trained applicants support before registration.

Applicants to the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) may have to undergo a review of their competency before they register. This review involves completing a form if their educational programs were located outside Canada.

The CRTO's Professional Practice Advisor is trained to assess the knowledge and experience of international educated respiratory therapists and other health professionals. He or she helps applicants, in person or by teleconference, to complete this form.

This competency review tool is also a way for applicants to assess their own competencies before they submit their applications.

This practice helps applicants understand how their qualifications and experience align with the national standards and supports them in the process.
