This practice is of interest to regulators who offer online educational or professional development programs.

Certified General Accountants Ontario (CGA Ontario) introduced an instructor-led format for online course delivery. This format provides students with weekly support through interactive, online discussions with the instructor. This better serves students who want more contact with their instructors and who cannot physically attend lectures because they live too far away.

CGA Ontario makes arrangements and provides resources for students with special needs. For example, CGA Ontario:

  • changed its course materials to make them compatible with students' visual-aid software
  • provides closed-captioning during interactive, online instructor-led sessions for students with hearing impairment
